Hey, Kansas City-based people! What are you doing this weekend? If you said “Basketball tournament,” then I suppose that’s all right, but if you said, “PLANET COMICON!” then now we’re talking.
Kansas City’s biggest comic and pop culture convention is getting set to launch! Doors open at noon and then it’ll be full frontal nerdity for the next three days. Guests from film and TV as well as comics and games creators, writerly folk of the prose persuasion such as myself and Kevin, and cosplayers of every genre and beyond will be there.
This show seems to get bigger every time we roll around to March. Kevin and I have watched it grow and up its game year after year. I fully expect this year to be no exception. In addition to our table in the Artists Alley (#323 in your programs, boys and girls), I’m also doing a couple of panels this year:
“How to Be A Nerd for A Living” – Room 2504, Friday 4:30pm – 5:2opm
“Writing In Existing Worlds” – Room 2505, Sunday 11:00am – 11:50am
When we’re not at panels or conducting any other mischief the con promoter might have us do (I’ve heard rumors), we’ll either be at our table or wandering the show and checking things out for ourselves. The Mrs. plans to bring the kids on Sunday, so they can check the costumes and check all the cool stuff in the vendor area or maybe even get their picture taken with a Power Ranger or two.
So, if you’re going to be at the show, be sure to stop by and say “Howdy!”
