For those of you thinking that my convention thing probably was done for the year, I’m happy to report that I’m going to sneak (at least) one more in before we ring out 2013.
My hetero life mate, Kevin, and have been invited to participate as guests at this year’s FreeState Comicon, held as it is every year in Lawrence, Kansas. The con’s promoter, our friend Craig Klotz, has scheduled this year’s one-day show for mid-October. That’s right! Just a mere week after Kevin returns from another jaunt to the Empire State for this year’s New York Comic-Con, he and I will be back in the KC-groove as we attend the 2013 edition of this pretty slick local con.
Craig has a knack for enticing some great comics talent to his show each year. Past cons have included such local folks done good as Freddie Williams II, Dennis Hopeless and Kevin Mellon, and our pal Mike Sullivan. I expect we’ll be seeing at least some of these folks again this year.
So, if you’re in the KC area on Saturday, October 19th and you’re looking to get your geek on, you could do worse than to make your way to the Douglas County Fairgrounds in picturesque Lawrence, Kansas (Rock, chalk, blah blah blah), for 2013 Free State Comicon. I’ll have plenty of copies of From History’s Shadow and Kevin will be pimping his latest work, including an essay in the new Hey Kids, Comics! anthology as well as a short story for ReDeus: Native Lands. We’ll also have a selection of other stuff, too.
See you there?
