Hey! It’s the 17th, which means it’s time once again for my turn at bat over at the Novel Spaces blog!
For my final Novel Spaces contribution of 2012, I offer up some infonuggets of advice for You: Up and Coming Writer and First Time Convention Guest. For this topic, I solicited the expertise and advice from folks over on Facebook and received some great feedback. Some of it helped me refined points I already was trying to make, and others I incorporated because it was something I’d overlooked. For everyone who took the time to join that conversation, your contributions are sincerely appreciated.
I obviously don’t consider the list to be complete or definitive, and I wasn’t able to include all of the feedback I received over on Facebook. So, feel free to offer your own tips, tricks, and other hints.
You can read the new column here: Novel Spaces – So, It’s Your First Convention As A Guest?
Enjoy (I hope)!

I’d never thought about that name thing. That’s good advice.

Yeah, it was one of those “Oh, no shit” things someone told me, early on.
Thankfully, my everyday usage of my name helps with this. I go by my middle name and use only it for signing books/etc., whereas my first name is part of my “legal signature.”
