Ten years of the ‘Verse!

Take my love, take my land
Take me where I cannot stand
I don’t care, I’m still free
You can’t take the sky from me

Take me out to the black
Tell ‘em I ain’t comin’ back
Burn the land and boil the sea
You can’t take the sky from me

There’s no place I can be
Since I found serenity
But you can’t take the sky from me

– Lyrics by Joss Whedon

Happy 10th Anniversary, Firefly.

I am such a Firefly fan, that I actually own a Jayne Cobb hat. “A man walks down the street in that hat people know he’s not afraid of anything.”

I bought one of those for a friend a few years back at a con. I have a couple of T-shirts for me to wear: “Browncoats: May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one” and one I got from TeeFury: “Serenity Sake.”

A couple of months ago, I was picking up a prescription at our nearby CVS. There was a woman there with her teenaged daughter, sitting and waiting for the “Minute Clinic” nurse or whoever to see them. The teen looked sullen/depressed/etc. like so many teens are when forced to be anywhere with their parents. She was wearing one of those hats and when I walked past I said to her, “That is a cunning hat.” She immediately broke out this huge grin and we pointed at each oher like two people do when they’re the only ones in on the joke. I guess I made her day. :)
