“The Rescue of Athena One” on Cyborgs: A Bionic Podcast!

Has it been two weeks already? I guess so, because there’s a brand-spankin’ new episodeĀ of Cyborgs: A Bionic Podcast ready to rock your ears. Hosts John S. Drew and Paul K. Bisson are joined this week by fellow podcaster and writer Kevin Lauderdale to deconstruct the next episode of The Six Million Dollar Man, “The Rescue of Athena One.”

Steve is brought in to help train the first American female astronaut before her flight to Skylab. When things go bad on the mission, Steve is sent up for a rescue mission (because, in the Bionic Mythos, Saturn rockets and Apollo capsules are just laying around, ready to go for this kind of thing). Once in space, he begins having trouble with his bionics, and hilarity ensues from there.

Farah Fawcett-Majors guest stars as Kelly Woods, the female astronaut in question (and this predates *THAT POSTER*), and the episode also features renowned ABC science editor Jules Bergman as himself. Bergman served in this role from 1961 until his untimely death in 1987, which included providing fantastic coverage of the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo space programs. He may be somewhat familiar to modern viewers who saw the film Apollo 13, as clips from his coverage of that mission were used in the movie.

So, check out John, Paul and Kevin and their revisiting of the episode: Cyborgs: A Bionic Podcast – “The Rescue of Athena One”
